CEO of Shopify Defends Company’s Right to Host Breitbart
📅 - Shopify is a Canadian SaaS company and the host of Breitbart, a right-wing website causing plenty of controversy. Recently, the CEO of Shopify, Tobias Lutke wrote an open letter to defend the decision to continue providing Breitbart with services for the online store. This was in response to about 10,000 messages asking the company to stop providing services to Breitbart.

📅 - Many Groups Pushing Senate to Leave Email Privacy Act As-is and Pass it - Recently, the Email Privacy Act was voted on and passed in the United States House of Representatives. The act will require law enforcement to get a warrant if they want to access any emails 180 days old or older. This act will now go to the Senate, which is where it stalled last year.
The Email Privacy Act will reform the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, if passed. It was passed by a unanimous vote in the House last May, but Senate Republicans wanted to rewrite the act and give more power to the FBI. It never reached a vote.
Many advocacy groups and companies are pushing for the Senate to pass the act as-is. They don't want to see it watered down or weaken before passing it.
