📅 - Dyn, the same Dyn that made huge headlines due to a DDoS Attack has been acquired by Oracle. The announcement was made after an agreement was signed between the two companies, but the details have not been disclosed.
Oracle believes adding the Dyn DNS solution will allow for growth with the Oracle cloud platform. It will create a one-stop shop for those looking for IaaS and PaaS.

📅 - Facebook Drone Test Fails to Land Safely - Earlier this year, Facebook began testing a huge, experimental drone intended to bring internet access to parts of the world currently unable to connect. The most recent test flight resulted in the drone crash landing due to “structural failure” during landing. This high-altitude drone boasts a wingspan larger than a Boeing 737 and 4 electric engines.
The test drone is the second to experience such a hiccup, with a Facebook drone exploding earlier this year and destroying a satellite. The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating the drone accident to better determine the cause of the failure.

📅 - Symantec Acquires LifeLock, an Identity Theft Protection Company - Symantec Corporation, a security software company, has announced they have acquired Lifelock, an identity theft protection company. Symantec is responsible for products, such as the Norton line of security software for home-based PCs. The deal was reported to have cost the company $2.3 billion.
Lifelock is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona and provides identity theft protection systems for consumers and businesses. Symantec intends to use the company to enhance the cybersecurity they provide and homes to readdress the lost revenues from the shift from PCs to mobile devices. Symantec also acquired Blue Coat Inc., recently for $4.65 billion.

📅 - Four New Data Centers to be Added in the UK by IBM - IBM will be tripling the number of data centers in the UK by adding four more to their business. This will help to increase growth as they are counting on the British economy growing after leaving the European Union.
Currently, IBM operates two data centers in the UK and the new four were announced with spending of about $1.2 billion on a total of 15 facilities across the world. Each center will cost about $80 million. These UK data centers will focus mainly on Al Cloud ...
📅 - Final Bids for Host Europe Due Today - Host Europe, the London-based website hosting company, is up for sale and today is the final due for bids. GoDaddy and United Internet partnering with Warburg Pincus, the private equity firm, are apparently in a bidding battle to gain control of the company.
Host Europe has recently been valued by bankers at over $1.9 billion. The company has posted a 45 percent increase in profits last year and the forecast for next year's earnings is projected to be well over $170 million.
Over 7 million internet domain names are managed by Host Europe with nearly 2 million customers.

📅 - Cyber Attacks on Irish Law Firms Rise 50 Percent - According to a recently published study, cyber attacks against Irish law firms have risen dramatically over the past year. There has been nearly a 50 percent increase. According to the study, three out of every ten firms have suffered a cyber attack in the past 12 months. The problem may be even more severe, as many attacks may be happening without them being reported.
Amárach Research conducted the survey, drawing data from 107 law firms during September and October.
The data shows that more than half of the attacks were caused by malware, while 35 percent involved ransomware, a program that blocks access to computer systems until a sum of money (ransom) is paid.
