📅 - Open X-Change made an announcement this week: They are launching a bug bounty program that is open to the public. Open X-Change companies like PowerDNS and Dovecot have been hosting bug bounties that weren't open to the public. Those programs are now hosted on HackerOne – and the only way to get in is by invitation.
The public programs will allow anyone with the right knowledge to look for bugs and report them for a prize. Companies are resorting to programs like this to crowdsource their ability to detect and pinpoint existing bugs in software.

📅 - Intel has Acquired Nervana Systems - Intel, a technology company, recently made the announcement that they have acquired the Artificial Intelligence startup company Neverana Systems. This is looked at as Intel planning for a future of data centers being managed by artificial intelligence.
Intel is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and known as one of the top producers in the world for computer processors. They are also involved in many other technology activities. Nervana Systems is headquartered in San Diego, California and specializes in what is known as “deep learning” solutions for computation and data analysis.

📅 - Former Oracle Employee Blasted for Claims - A former employee of Oracle claims the company cooked the cloud revenues and now Oracle is blasting them in court. The employee was a former senior finance manager and stated that the numbers for cloud revenues from Oracle are inflated.
Svetlana Blackburn was fired from Oracle in 2015 and stated the reason for the firing was her unwillingness to use improper procedures for accounting when it came to the cloud revenue. She claims she was told to add “millions of dollars in accruals to financial reports, with no concrete or foreseeable billing to support the numbers.”

📅 - Silicon Graphics Will be Purchased by HPE for $275 Million - Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced they will be the Silicon Graphics International Corporation for around $275 million in cash. This will add to the already high-performance capability of HPE and will help to improve data analytics.
The deal is expected to add profit within two years. SGI provides machines that help with creating computer-generated images for movies. They have also created products to help with data analytics, data management and computing. ...
📅 - Googlement may be the Successor to Government Sachs - Government Sachs was a phrase used for the Wall Street firms during the financial crisis because they seemed to have control of all the important positions in Washington. Now, it may be Googlement because Google is large enough to spend money on lobbying lawmakers and regulators in their favor.
Google has gone from spending about $1 million on lobbying ten years ago to nearly $17 million in 2015. Only General Electric and Boeing spent more. Google also has a very tight relationship with the Obama administration.

📅 - After Data Hack Nancy Pelosi Received ‘Obscene’ Calls - Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader, has some advice for fellow Democrats after her recent cybersecurity breach, “Please be careful not to allow your children or family members to answer your phone.”
The hacked data released included personal information such as phone numbers and email addresses of members of Congress and their staff. “I have received scores of mostly obscene and sick calls, voicemails and text messages,” she added.
