Jul 25, 2016 : Verizon Makes Plans to Buy Yahoo!

📅 July 25, 2016 - Many reports are showing that Verizon, a broadband telecommunications company, is ready to buy the internet company Yahoo! An announcement was made earlier this year by that it would cut about 15% of its workforce to help regain profitability. While Verizon is reportedly going to buy Yahoo! analysts are not exactly sure what they plan to do with the company.

Verizon is headquartered din New Jersey and offers many services including mobile telephones, internet services and more. Yahoo! is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California and was created in 1994. Verizon has reportedly offered to pay $5 billion for Yahoo!

📅 Jul 25, 2016 - Verizon Moving Customers Using Too Much Data Off Unlimited Plans - Verizon notified customers still on its unlimited data plan that if they are using an “extraordinary” amount of data each month (defined as those who use more than 100GB every month), they will be kicked off the unlimited plan and forced to choose a new plan. Verizon says these customers will have 50 days to reactivate on a limited data plan if they choose not to switch at first.

The company stopped offering unlimited data plans in 2011, but many customers have been “grandfathered” in with the plans. A very small number of those users are going over 100GB each month – an amount only offered on shared plans using multiple devices through Verizon.

The partnership aims to offer a variety of custom cloud storage options, all of which are hosted in OVH's data centers.

Rogers backs the centers with 24/7 service and cybersecurity. The OVH data centers' cooling mix is 30% outside air and 70% liquid, making it an environmentally friendly cloud offering.

📅 Jul 26, 2016 - US Government Says Microsoft Can’t Protect User Data - The US government recently ruled that Microsoft Corporation customers don't have a right to know when governmental agencies intercept email. Microsoft filed a lawsuit earlier this year alleging that their customers have a constitutional right to know when and if the government seizes or searches their property.

The government said in a court filing that the lawsuit should be thrown out because the law enables them to intercept electronic communications without a warrant or disclosure – if it would endanger an individual or investigation.
