📅 - Samsung Electronics has made a move into the cloud environment by acquiring cloud company Joyent, Inc. After evaluating many different companies, Samsung decided Joyent fit their needs the best. The experienced management team and robust cloud technology were both huge draws for Samsung.
Samsung is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea and provides a wide range of mobile phones including the very popular Galaxy line. Joyent is headquartered in San Francisco, California and known as a container infrastructure as a service company. They offer both private and public cloud solutions and will remain as an independent entity as they help with Samsung's cloud capabilities.

They picked up quite a bit of momentum with corporate clients. Even though the company has gained, the actual sales are about 1% lower compared to last year.

After an outage at Peak Hosting las year, Machine Zone started to move to a different facility in Las Vegas. Peak Hosting plans to use bankruptcy protection to rebuild the company and pay for the lawsuit it has with Machine Zone. They also hired a chief restructuring officer and laid off most of their staff.
