📅 - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $1 billion contract to Raytheon Co., even after protests from competitors. the contract will provide protection for the networks of many federal agencies.
Raytheon was picked back in September of 2015 as the systems integrator and prime contractor for the Network Security Deployment division. This division oversees more than 100 federal civilian agencies. On June 2nd, the Department of Homeland Security reaffirmed the decision to give Raytheon the contract.

The company raised a total of $36.2 million with $23 million coming from Microsoft. The rest came from Salesforce Ventures and other existing investors including Nexus Venture Partners, Visionnaire Ventures, Intel Capital and True Ventures.
