First Big Submarine Cable Investment Made by Amazon Web Services
📅 - Amazon Web Services or AWS has invested in a submarine cable project to help improve the connection between data centers. They currently host cloud services in the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
The project is called Hawaiki Submarine Cable and it's targeted to come online in June of 2018. When it does, it will allow for far more bandwidth between the United States, Australia and New Zealand than what's available today. The cable will also help reduces latency for those using AWS in the three countries. .
