📅 - Google started the trend by originally going the container route, but deciding against it in the end. Now, Microsoft is following suit as they have found that containers are just not a great way to scale.
Due to the need to scale their cloud services so fast and in so many places, Microsoft has found that the data center container route just doesn't work for them. Instead, they will be implementing what is known as a colo design to help provides the best option for their cloud services. .

GoDaddy has announced that Arne Josefsberg, the current CIO and infrastructure officer will take over Murphy's position. Josefsberg has more than 26 years of experience in the industry and joined GoDaddy in 2014 after working for Microsoft for most of his career. .
📅 - Squarespace Domains Recently Launched by Squarespace - Squarespace, a DIY website builder, has recently decided to enter into the domain business with Squarespace Domains. This company will help to compete with GoDaddy and other domain registrars for small business and personal web pages.
Squarespace will offer about 200 top-level domains and will stress the ease of use including support and service. They will also offer spam-free page parking for those looking to start a new domain, but looking to build the website later.
Domains through Squarespace are $20 and automatically come with WHOIS privacy. .
📅 - Government Looking into Saving Energy with Wireless Interconnects for Big Data Centers - Recently, the US government provided a grant to Rochester Institute of Technology's assistant professor because he believes energy efficiency can be achieved through wireless interconnects between data centers. Amlan Ganguly has published research papers not he topic and his project will actually test this theory.
The grant was for about $600,000 and came from the National Science Foundation. It will fund the project over the next five years. While the project has been described as high-risk, it's one that could bring significant power efficiency to data centers everywhere. .
