📅 - Google Announced the Launch of AMP - Google has announced the launch of AMP, which will allow users to create web pages with static content. The solution provides three elements: AMP HTML, AMP JS and Google AMP Cache. The AMP HTML element is a limited type of HTML allowing for an enhanced performance. Many of the tags are the same as traditional HTML.
AMP JS makes it easier and faster for AMP HTML pages to render, while AMP Cache helps to speed up the entire operation. These pages are showing up in the search results, already, especially for news services. .
📅 - The First Week of .Cloud Domains Kicks Off with 30,000 Registrations - The .cloud extension was released last Tuesday and over 30,000 registrations for the new top level domain were seen in the first week. Orders have come from 141 different countries with Italy, Germany and the US at the top of the list.
Francesco Cetraro, the Head of Registry Operations for .cloud stated that the top registrars for the TLD include Tucows, Name.com, GoDaddy, 1&1 and United Domains. The .cloud TLD sells for between $20 and $25 US with many premium domains going up for auction next month. .
The initiative was set up by President Barack Obama's administration to help push government agencies and companies to become more energy efficient with their data centers. This includes making specific improvements to the energy efficiency of their facilities. In exchange, the government provides some technical assistance, good publicity and shared best practices.
