📅 - Google Cloud debuted new functions recently, which included a lightweight, single-purpose function capable of responding to cloud events without a separate run time environment or server. The Cloud Functions are will become useful in the event of a failure and will allow applications to elegantly and quickly handle the failure.
Google Cloud Functions have already been compared to the Amazon Web Services Lambda, which is very similar. Cloud Functions is considered an Alpha release and there may be compatibility issues with older software. .

📅 - Sci-Hub Pirate Website Giving Away Academic Papers Ignores Lawsuit - Russian neuroscientist Alexandra Elbakyan received the first legal complaint in June 2015 about Sci-Hub.com. She created the website for the purpose of making academic papers available to anyone who needed them for free. Sci-Hub, the name of the website, holds more than 47,000,000 academic papers.
The court ruled in favor of the academic publisher in October 2015, saying Sci-Hub violated US copyright law and suspending the website. In return, Ms. Elbakyan moved to a new domain and continues to get around 30K visitors each day.

📅 - One Market Center Acquired by AiNET for $20 Million - AiNet recently acquired One Market Center in Baltimore, MD for $20 million. This center is considered a “telecom-hotel” and will become a premier data center for the company.
One Market Center is found over the Howard Street tunnel and provides a communications gateway between Northern Virginia to New York and Europe. It's built with over 75MW of power.
AiNET is a “mission critical” IT solutions provider. They also operate certified Tier 4 data centers. They will offer all of their current services to customers of One Market Center immediately. .
📅 - Verizon to Shut Down Public Cloud With One Month’s Notice - Verizon, the communications giant, has been in the public cloud sector for years but announced their plan to shut down its public cloud service on Thursday. The shut down comes after industry competitors like AWS and Azure have gained in popularity.
