US Congress Votes to Pass Ban on Internet Access Tax 75-20
📅 - The United States Senate voted on Thursday to pass a permanent ban on an Internet access tax. The bill was passed with a bipartisan vote of 75 in favor, 20 against. The bill is now awaiting the President's approval and is considered a victory for the digital economy.

📅 - Sci-Hub Pirate Website Giving Away Academic Papers Ignores Lawsuit - Russian neuroscientist Alexandra Elbakyan received the first legal complaint in June 2015 about Sci-Hub.com. She created the website for the purpose of making academic papers available to anyone who needed them for free. Sci-Hub, the name of the website, holds more than 47,000,000 academic papers.
The court ruled in favor of the academic publisher in October 2015, saying Sci-Hub violated US copyright law and suspending the website. In return, Ms. Elbakyan moved to a new domain and continues to get around 30K visitors each day.
