Jan, 2016 : Next-Gen Wi-Fi Launced by Wi-Fi Alliance

📅 - The Wi-Fi Alliance has recently launched Next-Gen Wi-Fi to help support Internet of Things. It will enable lower power, long range devices to connect to the Internet of Things and they are calling it HaLow. HaLow is a 802.11ah standard operating below one gigahertz for connected cars, smart homes, smart cities and digital healthcare.

HaLow has the ability to extend Wi-Fi into the 900 MHz range. It supports many new devices and uses less electrical power. Even though this new Wi-Fi uses less power, it generates a range of about twice the previous standard.
