Law Enforcement Now Able To Reset Passwords on Old Androids
📅 - It was announced that Google is now set up to have remote access to devices running on older versions of Android in order to allow law enforcement access to the contents of the device.
As long as a warrant is in place, the New York District Attorney's Office says that law enforcement can view the smartphone's contents by accessing the device through Google. Since the newer versions have full disk encryption enabled on iPhone, Apple can't gain access on devices of iOS8 or newer with a passcode.
If it's an Android 5.0 or later using the default full disk encryption, remote reset won't work for viewing the contents. Older versions of Android will be accessible to Google by resetting the passcodes when given a search warrant by law enforcement. .
