Oct, 2014 : Google Fiber To Arrive In Austin This December

📅 - Google's high-speed Internet service, Google Fiber, will be making its way to Austin, Texas, in the coming months, the Wall Street Journal reports.

On Wednesday a Google spokeswoman announced that Austin residents would be able to start signing up for the service in December.

The spokeswoman did not give details on how much the plans will cost, though she did say that the plans will be similar to those in Google's first Fiber cities, Kansas City and Provo.

According to the Journal, users in Kansas City can choose from multiple plans, a TV and Internet package for $120 a month, a $70 a month Internet only plan, and a slower Internet plan that is free for seven years after a $300 installation fee is charged.

Google Fiber offers users faster Internet speed of 1 gigabit per second. It was fist announced in 2013 that it would be arriving in Austin by mid-2014, though it was slightly delayed due to the complex under ground drilling that is done for the more than 3,000 miles of underground cable.
