Nov, 2010 : Panopta Launches the Panopta Monitoring Agent
📅 - The new software provides real-time alerts about capacity problems that can be addressed before they become critical outages.
Panopta, a provider of server monitoring and outage management systems, yesterday launched the Panopta Monitoring Agent (PMA), designed to provide even more insight into its clients' infrastructure operations.
The company mentions that the PMA gives administrators critical information about how their servers are performing, allowing them to detect trends in resource usage that can be used for capacity planning. More importantly, it provides real-time alerts about capacity problems that can be addressed before they become critical outages.
It articulates that the PMA gathers information about the core system within a server, such as CPU activity, network bandwidth available, memory and disk usage, as well as applications such as Apache and MySQL process information. These resources are then sent to the company's central monitoring infrastructure where they are analyzed, aggregated and used to generate alerts to administrators when resource levels exceed prescribed thresholds. The results are also available in its easy-to-use control panel, as well as in regular email and web-based reports. The company adds that while the Panopta central monitoring infrastructure is a Software as a Service application, the Panopta Monitoring Agent is locally based, ensuring peak performance and durability for each server. The software can quickly and easily be installed on any customer server in a matter of minutes.
"We have developed the Panopta Monitoring Agent to augment our current monitoring service. The Agent provides our customers with the cutting-edge tools to gain even more insight into their IT infrastructure and essentially improves their quality of service while also reducing their overhead (i.e. fewer support calls)," said Jason Abate, CEO and Founder of Panopta.
