LineSider Technologies, a provider of cloud automation and orchestration, today announced that it is collaborating with EMC, a provider of software and services for the data center, to automate their cloud computing infrastructure. The company says that EMC has implemented its OverDrive to automate the provisioning and deployment of network services in the Atmos cloud computing environment.
It articulates that its OverDrive automatically virtualizes network services so the network becomes fluid and responsive in the same way server virtualization transformed the data center. The company avers that every application gets the network resources it needs, when needed, without any manual intervention dramatically reducing network operations costs associated with cloud computing.
"The network is still static," said John Donnelly III, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing at LineSider. "Every time an application, computer or storage resource changes in the virtual data center, there needs to be some type of manual intervention to provision network services or repair broken security and access models. In fact, one of the biggest challenges facing large virtual computing deployments is the enormous amount of operational time spent on creating and modifying network connectivity and maintaining security to support virtual computing. This is especially true for companies with very fluid computing environments where virtual devices are being added, moved or changed regularly between physical locations or network segments."
