Mar, 2010 : M5 Hosting Begins Operations at Second Data Center
📅 - By adding the second facility, company is able to introduce new services, including off-site data backup and multi-location redundancy for dedicated server customers.
M5 Hosting, a provider of Linux and BSD dedicated server hosting solutions, today announced that it has begun operations at its new data center at 9305 Lightwave Ave. in San Diego. It is the company's second data facility. The company explains that by adding the second facility, it is able to introduce a variety of important new services, including off-site data backup and multi-location redundancy for dedicated server customers. It is also nearing capacity at its existing facility, and needs significant additional rack space to continue its growth in 2010. It further explains that the new facility is an 80,000 square-foot purpose-built data center. Originally built to support a large defense contractor and its government contracts, the facility has recently been updated with the latest in highly-efficient power and cooling systems.
The company says that the data center is a SAS 70 Type II compliant facility that features an impressive 12+ Megawatts of power, N+1 or 2N redundancy on all data center systems and security protocols required by leading businesses in the most stringent verticals. The facility is owned by American Internet Services, the largest data center provider in San Diego. It further states that it will maintain a dedicated high-speed data connection between its two facilities, which can be quickly scaled to 10Gbps or more to accommodate higher bandwidth needs if required. New customers will be able to select their preferred data center when ordering their dedicated servers.
"Many of our fast-growing customers are asking for services that require multiple facilities, such as off-site backups, multi-site redundancy, disaster recovery sites, and more. We also need additional space to keep growing at our current rate and to keep delivering the sort of customer-focused flexible services we have been delivering for 9 years now," said Michael J. McCafferty, Principal of M5 Hosting.
