1&1 Internet Ltd, a web hosting company, today launched its dedicated servers with Hexa-Core processors. The company states that it has expanded its server portfolio with two additional premium models for professional use as a web or application server. The advantages are full performance with high-level availability and reliability, with the servers benefiting from excellent connectivity to its strong data centres.

It further states that its flagship server is the Hexa-Core 3XL, with 2 AMD Hexa-Core Opteron 2423 CPUs, a 32 GB RAM, professional RAID 5 system and 2 Terabytes of usable disk space. The Hexa-Core 3XL is priced from 399.99 Pounds/month+VAT. The second newcomer, the Hexa-Core XXL, also provides the same 12 processor kernels, with 16 GB RAM and 1.5 Terabytes of usable disk space. The Hexa-Core XXL is priced from 299.99 Pounds/month+VAT. The company adds that the powerful hardware delivers most benefit when used for resource-intensive applications such as developing systems, data bases or online games.

It explains that it will utilise the energy saving HE ('high efficiency') version of the AMD Opteron series, meaning the benefits of capacity are accompanied with high efficiency. With a 2 GHz clock frequency, the fast Hexa-Core processors consume only 55 Watt ACP ('Average CPU Power') and 79 Watt TDP ('Thermal Design Power'). Its Hexa-Core XXL and Hexa-Core 3XL servers are available in both Linux or Windows configurations. 1&1 also offers a managed solution for users running a web server. Furthermore, the solutions include 1 IP address, up to 20 domains, 3000 email accounts, 1 SSL certificate for secure information transfer and unlimited traffic - meaning a successful web project will not be punished additional high traffic costs. The company avers that the minimum contract term (MCT) for both server packages can be selected as either 1 month with 49 Pounds set-up fee, or 12 months with no set-up fee.
