SmarterTools Inc., an information technology-management software company, today announced that a partnership with Microsoft, a provider of software, will provide customers the ability to license Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync for use with the SmarterMail mail server software. The company states that with the release of SmarterMail 6.x, ActiveSync will be available as an optional add-on for those users that want to synchronize email, calendars, tasks, and notes between mobile devices using Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync technology.
It explains that licensing for the ActiveSync add-on will be based on a yearly subscription that is priced well below the competition. In addition, it will allow customers to add ActiveSync to only the mailboxes that need the technology, making adoption of the add-on easy and affordable for small to medium sized businesses (SMBs) and the ISP/hosting industry.
