Drift2 Web Services, Inc., a provider of shared and reseller hosting services, today announced that it has deployed R1Soft Continuous Data Protection technology and will offer automatic data backup for all shared and reseller hosting customers at no additional charge. The company states that customer data will be protected through two separate data backup processes. It avers that hourly backups, retained for 24 hours, will protect databases against data loss or corruption.

The company further states that it will also run daily backups, retained for 14 days, to protect against catastrophic data loss disasters. It adds that it will fully-manage the new backups. The company explains that unlike other backup technologies, R1Soft's CDP stores only incremental changes in data sectors in each new restore point. This enables it to increase backup frequency and retain restore points for longer periods of time, while still minimizing cost.
