Mar 5, 2009 : Barracuda Adds New Web App Firewalls
📅 - Email and web security appliance developer Barracuda Networks (barracudanetworks.com) has launched Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 and 960, which secure web applications for enterprises and large organizations, including corporate websites and XML web services. According to the company's announcement this week, the high-capacity Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 and 960, priced at $24,999 and $34,999 respectively, offer complete protection against common web attacks including SQL injections, OS command injections and XSS (or cross-site scripting) attacks.
"Over the past year and a half, Barracuda Networks has been successfully redefining the Web application security marketplace with unprecedented ease-of-use and value in the mid-market through the Barracuda Web Site Firewall product line," Barracuda Networks product management vice president Stephen Pao said in a statement. "With today's announcement, we are combining our enterprise and mid-market product offerings into one complete product line and bringing Barracuda Networks' ease-of-use and straightforward pricing to the high-end market."
The Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 can service up to 150 backend servers and up to 600 Mbps of inbound web traffic. The Barracuda Web Application Firewall 960 can handle up to 300 backend servers and up to 900 Mbps of inbound Web traffic.
Stratecast research director Michael Suby said that cost and complexity have been the major limiters of widespread web application firewall adoption. "Barracuda Networks successfully inserted simplicity and affordability into its line of web application firewall appliances aimed at the mid-market segment last year," Suby said in a statement. "With the Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 and 960, Barracuda Networks is set to prove that this same formula can also benefit the enterprise market."
Barracuda's firewall applications have been implemented by many online service providers including management software developer SmarterTools (smartertools.com) and managed hosting provider SingleHop (singlehop.com 👉 Total Reviews: 10
