) has officially launched a customer feedback community powered by Grupthink (grupthinkpro.com), a service that allows users to communicate with customers and run opinion polls.

While the Modwest community (feedback.modwest.com) has been online for several weeks, on Thursday the company publicly announced the site, with lets Modwest customers use their existing credentials to log in and make suggestions, discuss Modwest services, communicate with one another and Modwest staff, and compete for prizes.

"We have always striven to communicate freely with our customers, and this community represents a new way for us listen carefully to customer feedback and ideas to help guide product development and improve our services," Modwest founder John Masterson said in a statement. "Plus, our customers now have a place to communicate directly with one another."

Customers earn member points for participation, and have a chance to win gift certificates from Amazon and custom Modwest pint glasses.

Modwest offers shared hosting starting at $8.95 per month, as well as virtual private servers starting at $49.95 and dedicated servers at $299.

Since 2005, Modwest has offered a variety of reseller hosting packages, enabling its customers to host multiple sites at wholesale rates and create their own branded versions of Modwest's hosting services and OnSite control panel. It also has an affiliate program that pays $15 when a new customer mentions the affiliate's name or website address when signing up.

Making customers, especially resellers, feel like members of a community is a way hosting providers can distinguish themselves, and also identify ways they can improve their services. For instance, Australia-based hosting provider Dotable (dotable.com) has used its member community for years to communicate back and forth with customers. And when it was snapped up by the UK-2 Group (uk2.net 👉 Total Reviews: 111
