By gaining EU Safe Harbor Certification, INetU is able to continue doing business with European companies, where Safe Harbor requirements were enacted.

Though the United States and European Union have taken different approaches to privacy, the ultimate goals are the same.

The US depends on a combination of legislation, regulation, and self-regulation, whereas the EU enacted requirements that formed government data protection agencies, registration of databases with those agencies, and in some cases prior approval before personal data processing may begin.

INetU turned to TRUSTe to help the company comply with these international standard. TRUSTe, the trust mark and recognized authority on Internet privacy best-practices, set clear privacy guidelines, closely examined INetU's website and client center practices, and helped write a comprehensive privacy policy that is viewable to the public.

Since the site's certification, TRUSTe will continue helping INetU consistently adhere to Safe Harbor requirements, enabling the company to better protect customers' private identifying information.
