📅 August 13, 2008 - Hosting infrastructure and disaster recovery solutions provider HostVentures (hostventures.com) has appointed former Parallels (parallels.com) vice president of sales Tim O'Rourke to lead the company's sales, marketing and operations as chief operating officer.


According to Wednesday's announcement by Baltimore-based HostVentures, O'Rourke will bring his experience as a software industry veteran of Northern Virginia and DC technology startups focused on internet-related software and services,

At his previous position as Parallels VP of Sales, O'Rourke focused on strategic accounts and launched the OSS/BSS, Data Center Automation and SaaS platforms.

Before joining Parallels, O'Rourke was VP of Sales and Operations for Plesk (parallels.com/plesk/), which was later acquired in July 2003 by server automation and virtualization software company SWsoft (swsoft.com) that also bought Parallels in January 2004. Previously, O'Rourke was responsible for several successful business turn arounds in IT and manufacturing. O'Rourke holds a BS in Chemical and Ocean Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.

"Tim's insights from recent experiences in developing strategic relationships around the world, his proven abilities in building world-class teams and his success leading sales growth [of] both large influential customers [and] young, emerging ones are rare and invaluable."

HostVentures expects O'Rourke to tread new ground on the company's high availability and disaster recovery IT infrastructure initiative by clarifying and refining its product offering, and leading its sales, marketing and customer care efforts.

O'Rourke said in a statement, "Customers want solutions that work, not technical jargon. They want to buy solutions, not pieces and parts of technology. Customers are placing more and more reliance and value on their IT infrastructure. They just want it to work."
