Apr 8, 2008 : Digiweb Buys Web Host Novara

📅 April 8, 2008 - Irish telecommunications provider Digiweb (www2.digiweb.ie) announced on Tuesday that is has acquired Web hosting provider Novara.

Novara, which operates under the trade names host.ie and register.ie, brings eight years of industry experience to Digiweb's existing specialist hosting team and data center services.

"Our drive to bring better services and value to the Irish hosting market has been further strengthened by the acquisition of Novara," says Dan King, hosting and managed infrastructure manager at Digiweb. "We're absolutely thrilled to welcome Novara's experienced and knowledgeable team to Digiweb, and look forward to supporting existing Novara customers with the same expert team and top service they already enjoy, and offering them now a single solution provider for their hosting, data center, broadband and telecoms needs."

This Digiweb is not to be confused by the Brazilian Web provider of the same name, which was acquired last month by UOL.

The Irish hosting industry has long been fragmented, and the this marks the first major acquisition and consolidation in the industry's 10 year history. Since Digiweb re-entered the hosting market in 2006, the company has drawn significant market share and high profile customers.
