📅 - Colocation and managed hosting provider ViaWest (viawest.net -> viawest.com -> flexential.com) announced on Wednesday that it has exceeded industry growth expectations by doubling its data center capacity throughout Colorado, Utah and Oregon in 2007 to meet demand.
According to Dan Golding of Tier1 Research, data center demand is currently increasing by 13 percent a year. ViaWest says its growth in 2007 has already exceeded market predictions.
In Colorado, ViaWest has increased its gross square footage by 144 percent in order to service new clients, as well as to address growth from its existing client base. ViaWest also significantly increased its footprint in Utah by adding 25K gross square feet of data center space through existing facility expansion and the addition of a new data center in the second quarter of this year. The company also expanded its Oregon facility by more than 50 percent, positioning ViaWest as a market leader in the colocation and managed hosting industry with growing enterprise-class data centers in major US markets, says the company.
"All of our regions have experienced exceptional growth this year, with the last two quarters marking our best sales quarters in the company's eight-year history, a 58 percent increase over the same period in 2006," says Roy Dimoff, chairman and CEO of ViaWest. "This is an exciting time for the company because of strong market growth and the tremendous opportunity afforded to ViaWest as a technology and customer service leader."
Travel lifestyle product provider Samsonite recently moved seven of its 20 global websites to ViaWest's colocation services.
