Mar, 2003 : ViaWest Purchases Center 7 Hosting Assets

📅 - Business Internet solutions provider ViaWest (ViaWest.net -> viawest.com -> flexential.com) announced on Monday that it has reached an agreement with IT infrastructure management products developer Center 7 Inc. (center7.com) for the purchase of certain hosting and colocation assets at Center 7's Lindon, Utah-based data center, in exchange for an equity position and board seat at ViaWest.

The transaction, says ViaWest, will combine the reputable operating history of the data center with ViaWest's presence as a dominant regional provider of hosting and colocation services to the small and medium-sized business market. ViaWest says it is one of the area's few profitable providers of managed hosting, colocation and broadband access.
The Lindon data center is a tier 1 facility with a state-of-the-art network operations center, currently supporting approximately $2 million in annual hosting and colocation revenue. The entire data center, says ViaWest, is expandable to 15,000 square feet. The company plans to gradually expand its capacity in the facility over a five-year period.
"ViaWest is currently the dominant service provider in the Colorado market, and we were looking for a transaction that would significantly increase our presence in the Utah market," said ViaWest CEO and Chairman Roy Dimoff. "We have been operating in Utah since late 1999, and our current facility in Salt Lake City is at 90% capacity. We needed a Class A data center with a proven operating history, and Center 7 absolutely filled the bill."
