May 7, 2001 : Level 3 Expands Agreement With Kmart


level3.com logo📅 - Level 3 Communications Inc. (level3.com), a global communications and information services company, announced on Monday that it had expanded its agreement with BlueLight.com, the online electronic commerce channel and Internet service provider run by the Kmart Corporation.

According to the terms of the agreement, BlueLight.com has expanded its use of Level 3's services, including (3)Connect Modem, Level 3's dial-up Internet access service. BlueLight.com plans to extend its use of the (3)Connect Modem from 24 to 47 markets in the US.
The company will also use the (3)CrossRoads and (3)Center Colocation services to support its base of more than six million Internet service subscribers.
Level 3 says it is pleased that BlueLight.com has chosen to expand its relationship with Level 3, and its commitment to use the company's broadband infrastructure services, adding that it looks forward to continuing to provide its services to one of the most trusted retailers in America.
BlueLight.com is an independent company majority owned by Kmart Corporation. Formed by the retailer in 1999, the online business is based in San Francisco. Designed to take advantage of the substantial assets of the nation's second-largest discount retailer, BlueLight.com says its goal is to meet the online shopping needs of the more than 30 million Americans who shop at Kmart each week.
