WorldCom Introduces Managed Web Hosting Packages in Canada
📅 - WorldCom (worldcom.com), a leading provider of global business data and Internet communications, announced on Monday that it had introduced its comprehensive set of managed Web hosting solutions, designed to accelerate go-to-market e-business plans for businesses, in Canada.
Starting immediately, WorldCom-Canada is offering 18 different packaged hosting solutions designed to meet any business's need for high-performance global Web-hosting services. The company says the offerings combine all the essentials of e-business hosting, including the hosting, security, reporting, administration, monitoring and backup, as well as advanced services that will allow businesses to implement or improve their e-business strategy in as few as 10 to 15 days.
WorldCom says it is demystifying the once complex process of purchasing hosting and related services. The company says that in the past it was difficult for consumers to compare services between providers, and be sure of exactly what they were buying. But its packaged services are simplifying that process.
According to WorldCom, by combining the most popular Web hosting platforms and applications with service level agreement guarantees and connectivity to its global IP network, the company can provide sufficient reliability, performance, scalability and security needs of businesses of all sizes.
Using the company's relationship with leading managed hosting provider Digex (digex.com), and WorldCom's own global IP network, the new offerings are designed to address the needs of businesses on six distinct levels, from a basic Web site to a high-end e-commerce site.
The six packages are available on three platforms, including Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Solaris. Each level of the packages contain hardware, software, connectivity, support and service level agreements. Support ranges from help desk support to a full, dedicated support team.
The packages include the Single Server Package, designed for use with basic Web sites; the Basic Commerce Site Package, designed for starting e-commerce sites and equipped with separate function-specific servers; the Intermediate Commerce Site Package, designed for e-commerce sites that require enhanced performance, reliability and security, and equipped with two load-balanced Web servers and a dedicated database server; the Intermediate Application Site Package, which includes a dedicated server for applications; the High Availability Commerce Site Package, designed to provide an industrial-strength e-commerce solution; and the High Availability Application Site Package, which is aimed at businesses whose e-commerce operations require maximum redundancy.
WorldCom's newest offerings are now available to markets throughout the United States and Canada, and the company plans to have them deployed globally in Europe and Asia Pacific in 2001.
