Jul, 2001 : Greenway Medical Selects AT&T to Host ASP Services

📅 July 23, 2001 - Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. (greenwaymedical.com), a provider of Web-based healthcare management solutions, announced today that it has chosen AT&T (att.com) as its Web hosting provider.

AT&T will host the ASP version of Greenway's Web-based ambulatory softwaresuite, PrimeSuite, from AT&T's metro Atlanta Internet Data Center.
Designed for physician practices that want to increase practiceprofitability, enhance patient satisfaction and facilitate adherence tocompliance guidelines, PrimeSuite is an ambulatory software solution thatintegrates a practice's clinical, financial and administrative processes.
"Due to the sensitivity of the information that our system manages --personal health information -- this deployment approach will be morechallenging than within other industries," said Tommy Green, CEO of GreenwayMedical. "Therefore, we believe our Web hosting provider has to be highlycredible within the industry and has to be flexible in its approach. Given the general industry pursuit of lower cost of ownership, easierimplementation and easier maintenance of information technology, thepopularity of ASP solutions continues to grow. However, the ASP model alsoraises a number of new questions involving security and privacy of patientdata, reliability and response time of the applications and ownership ofdata.
While Greenway believes the adoption of the ASP model will vary frompractice to practice, they also believe it is important to give prospectiveclients the choice of an "in-house" deployed system or an ASP basedsolution. This agreement provides Greenway clients the choice ofimplementation strategies as part of a new IT investment, or as part of apractice's strategy to evolve their IT applications into an outsourcedenvironment.
