(lightwavecom.com), afacilities-based provider, announced yesterday that they have formed astrategic alliance that will deliver end-to-end, managed broadband solutionsto corporations and small business at below existing market prices.

The alliance will offer a stable and cost-efficient broadband Internetaccess solution, the companies said. tlantech expects the agreement togenerate approximately $135 million of services over the next five years.Under the agreement, Atlantech and LightWave will leverage Atlantech'sexisting high speed Internet connectivity and LightWave's existing fibernetwork to deliver T-1 services for $499 a month for most customers.
LightWave and Atlantech will market and sell each other's services,capitalizing on Atlantech's experienced sales channel and LightWave'sleadership in broadband connectivity. LightWave becomes Atlantech'spreferred telecommunications carrier, and Atlantech becomes LightWave'spreferred provider of Internet connectivity services to both companies'customers.
Initially the companies will be providing their joint solution to businessesin the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore regions and will expand these servicesto major metropolitan areas throughout the Northeast. LightWave will deliverT1 and DS3 connectivity between the client's and Atlantech's network.
LightWave's fiber network is in place from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitanarea through Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York and Boston.Companies will be able to purchase full T1 Internet bandwidth including thecost of the local loop from $499 to $700 per month depending on thelocation. This is a fraction of the today's typical market cost.
