Nov, 2001 : Ebone Enhances Streaming Services with Speedera Fusion

📅 - Speedera Networks Inc. (http://www.speedera.com), a global provider ofcontent delivery services, and Ebone (http://www.ebone.com), a European broadband IPand optical networking company, announced that they have entered into apartnership agreement. This partnership falls under the Speedera Fusionprogram, a strategic channel program that provides partners with a turnkeysolution for a full set of managed content delivery services.

The alliance ensures that Ebone achieves global reach, with Speederastreaming services, while Speedera gets access to Ebone's large Internetnetwork. The companies say the alliance enhances Ebone's streaming servicecapabilities with increased reach, delivery quality, scalability andperformance, while allowing both companies to achieve increased globalmarket presence.
"Ebone customers, like Mediawave which delivered the world's firstpay-per-view concert featuring Elton John, demand streaming capabilitiesthat are independent of geography and network traffic flows. Today's serviceproviders must deliver service independent of infrastructure ownership.Streaming, in particular, is a service that must operate completelyindependently of individual networks," said Leo McCloskey, senior vicepresident of marketing for Ebone. "By joining the Fusion program, we haveenhanced our streaming services by integrating into an established,industry-leading, worldwide content delivery network. Integrating ourEuropean streaming service with Speedera's global streaming platform tookplace in under 30 days, with flawless technical results, and no major outlayof funds."
Ebone uses Speedera's streaming services and global traffic managementtechnology to extend its own European streaming network for a fraction ofthe time and capital outlay that would have been required for internaldevelopment. Moreover, Speedera's intelligent Global Traffic Managementsystem allows Ebone to maintain fine grained, policy-based control over itsstreaming traffic flows.
In turn, Speedera has expanded its own edge to include strategic points onEbone's network, significantly boosting its European presence. "We areconstantly striving to form alliances that are mutually beneficial to bothSpeedera and our business partners," said Ajit Gupta, CEO of Speedera. "Webelieve that our superior technology, global network and channel-centricstrategy has helped us make our Fusion partnership program extremelyattractive to service providers."
Speedera offers distribution of live, on-demand and secure streams to usersworldwide, using an edge delivery network deployed in the Americas, Europeand the Asia-Pacific region. Rather than delivering content from a singlecentralized origin site, Speedera streams from a highly distributed set ofedge servers closer to users.
