Dec, 2001 : Ensim Announces ServerXchange, WEBppliance Updates

📅 December 19, 2001 - Ensim Corporation (ensim.com, a provider of hosting automationsolutions, has announced the availability of ServerXchange 3.0, an openmanagement platform for hosting service providers, as well as WEBppliance3.0 for Red Hat Linux 7.1, the latest version of the software appliance forWeb hosting.

The popular hosting management platform has been redesigned with a newXML-based architecture that enables service providers to manage Ensim andthird-party appliances from a single Web-based control center. ServerXchange3.0 can be used to manage Web hosting software appliances, including theWEBppliance 3.0 and Plesk PSA 2.0, as well as hardware appliances such asCompaq TaskSmart W2200 and Sun Cobalt RaQ3 and RaQ4.
ServerXchange 3.0 includes new features to extend its hosting capabilities.Business process automation capabilities have been integrated into theplatform to enable service providers to delegate provisioning and billing totheir resellers. In addition, migration tools have been enhanced to enableservice providers to easily move resellers from Ensim-powered privateservers to dedicated servers.
Other new ServerXchange 3.0 features include:
Real-time monitoring and alerts for servers and network services,enabling system administrators to diagnose and react quickly to quality ofservice issuesExtensive, context-sensitive online help facilities which helpreduce the volume of support calls for frequently occurring problemsOpen XML API which allows third-party appliances and applications tobe managed by the ServerXchange platformSupport for Linux SMP platforms to allow service providers to manageapplications running on more powerful multi-processor configurations.
ServerXchange 3.0 manages applications on Red Hat Linux 7.1 and 6.1, Windows2000 and Solaris 8.
WEBppliance 3.0 includes a new modular architecture that streamlines theintegration and management of third-party applications. Hosting serviceproviders can use it to configure their shared, dedicated and resellerdomains to include features such as dynamic Web pages, Web site creationtools, e-commerce, and database support. WEBppliance allows serviceproviders to monitor, track and manage bandwidth usage (Web, email, ftp,telnet) for both IP and name-based domains. For example, service providerscan now set bandwidth quotas for individual domains and monitor overages.WEBppliance 3.0 can also power name-based domains, includes self-servicetools to back up and restore sites, and is integrated with ServerXchange3.0.
WEBppliance 3.0 is available for server platforms that support Red Hat Linux7.1.
