📅 - Infonet Services Corporation (infonet.com), a provider ofcommunications for multinationals, today announced it has been awarded athree-year multi-service renewal contract with Volkswagen AG, the German automobile manufacturer, to provide global management of their international data communications services linking over 60 Volkswagen locations worldwide. This communications initiative is the foundation for Volkswagen AG's future business plans and global strategic processes.
Volkswagen AG is the parent company of the Volkswagen Group, the largestautomobile manufacturer in Europe and the fourth largest in the world. TheVolkswagen Group is comprised of nine independent brands, 43 productionfacilities worldwide, with product availability in 150 countries.
After a comprehensive review of several potential suppliers, Volkswagen AGchose to renew their existing contact with Infonet. Decisive criteriainvolved in the decision-making process included the company'sprice-performance ratio, flexibility and customer care, in addition to thedetailed customised network capacity and troubleshooting reportingcapabilities performed on the company's existing infrastructure to generateROI.
"In particular, the ability to provide flexible, customised options toenterprise critical applications is a crucial advantage to the Infonetservice offering," explained Klaus Schulz, manager, communications systemsat Volkswagen AG. "Based upon our existing three-year relationship withInfonet, their customised network portfolio offerings have enabled ourorganization to provide our clientele with interactive transactions formission-critical applications which are of our highest priority.Simultaneously, we required a supplier who offers a worldwide homogenousnetwork, via a single source provider, that could accommodate the demandingrequirements of Volkswagen AG's global business processes," he concluded.
Under the terms of the new contractual agreement, Infonet was chosen toprovide a range of services globally for Volkswagen AG, including broadband,remote access and MPLS-based IP-VPN. As further worldwide connectivityobjectives are required, additional services will be added to broaden thescope of the organization's global network initiatives.
