Apr 27, 2007 : BroadGroup Reports European Data

📅 - IT services consultancy firm BroadGroup (broad-group.com) announced on Thursday that service revenues will more than double over the next five years, crossing the three billion mark by 2009. The forecast was based on BroadGroup's latest bi-annual survey of data centers in Europe and Eastern Europe.

Based on interviews with more than 100 operators, representing a total of 400 facilities, the report provides insight into market drivers, player profiles and strategies, space and pricing, as well as the challenges being confronted, says BroadGroup.

An assessment of space and availability shows the changing pattern of data center evolution, the continued rise of managed services and trends in locations outside cities. The report suggests that Germany will form the largest data center market over the next five years.

"The report confirms much of the argument we have proposed over the past few years that data centers are a strategic asset as value migrates to the edge of the network," says Philip Low, founder of BroadGroup. "What the report reveals is how far European city markets are moving in response to the increase in demand, particularly from enterprises and government and also new sources of opportunity for the future."

BroadGroup hosted The Hosted Software Summit, which forms part of the third annual Data Centres Europe event, on March 21 in London, England.
