📅 - Image hosting site Photobucket (photobucket.com) has reportedly resolved a dispute that had resulted in a partial block by the enormously popular social networking site MySpace (myspace.com).
MySpace blocked videos and slideshows hosted on Photobucket earlier this month, pointing out that the image hosting site had been encouraging users to insert add-supported slideshows into their MySpace profiles. MySpace said the slide shows violate its policies regarding commercial activity.
Though neither company has offered any comment on the lifting of the block, Photobucket CEO Alex Welch pointed out in a blog posting that that his company must adhere to the MySpace terms of service.
Photobucket says the advertising deal that led to the dispute has completed, so users can no longer produce the slideshows that caused the dispute. The company intends to seek out similar deals in the future.
While Welsh was critical of MySpace's decision following the block, he seemed inclined to make peace in his more recent posting, saying the companies had opened lines of communication that would prevent a sudden blocking of Photobucket content in the future, and acknowledging that its content would have to fit within MySpace's terms to appear on that site.
