📅 - Yipes Communications, Inc. (yipes.com), a provider of Ethernet services, announced yesterday that its annual sales jumped 64 percent in 2001 over the previous year, when its gigabit optical networks began serving metro markets across the country.
The value of contracts signed last year in terms of recurring monthlyrevenue soared 98 percent. Yipes enjoyed strong sales momentum as the yearclosed. Yipes booked more than $10 million in new business in the fourthquarter of 2001, despite the adverse impacts on the nation's economy of theSept. 11 terrorist attacks. It ended the year with more than 500 customersin full service.
Yipes turned up many prominent customers in 2001, including Accenture,Calpine, Carnegie Mellon Supercomputing Center, Dresdner RCM GlobalInvestors, Drexel University, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Maxtor Corp.,National Restaurant Association, Refco, Transmeta, U.S. Geological Surveyand University of Pennsylvania.
