According to Pioneer Consulting's latest report, Broadband Satellite:Analysis of Global Market Opportunities and Innovation Challenges, the totalworldwide market opportunity for broadband satellite service providers willreach nearly $27 billion by 2008 with Broadband Satellite Access servicecomprising the largest market opportunity for a single Broadband Satelliteservice, soaring from $336 million in 2001 to $13.4 billion in 2008.
"The growth of broadband satellite services is expected to continue, drivenby a rapidly expanding market for high- speed Internet access," says MikeMassey, senior market analyst, Broadband Satellite for Pioneer Consulting."The major constraint to growth will be the relatively high cost ofsatellite capacity, which hinders broadband satellites competitivecapability against alternative technologies."
The Broadband Access sector is also expected to represent the largest marketopportunity for equipment manufacturers.
