Jan, 2002 : Wire One Launches IP Video and Audio Call Forwarding

📅 - Wire One Technologies, Inc. (wireone.com), a provider ofvideo communications solutions, announced yesterday two new Glowpointfeatures aimed at making Internet Protocol videoconferencing asuser-friendly as traditional telephone communications. Until now, Video andAudio Call Forwarding have never been available to videoconferencing users.

These and other value-added network features helped gain industryrecognition for Glowpoint this week. Network World magazine's Global TestAlliance honored Glowpoint with a Blue Ribbon award for Quality of Service-guaranteed IP videoconferencing service, and said that "the maturity of WireOne's Glowpoint services was clear in this study; in the near future, atleast, other companies will find it difficult to match the reliability, efficiency and feature set that Wire One has developed."
"Wire One is committed to forever changing video communications systems andmaking them as easy to use as current voice systems," stated MichaelBrandofino, Wire One CTO. "The introduction of new call forwarding features,on top of Dial 000 operator assistance, unassisted gateway calling and ouronline customer information center, further distinguish us from otherorganizations attempting to deliver customer-friendly video-over-IP, or viaISDN."
Video call forwarding gives Glowpoint subscribers the flexibility to set upa temporary forwarding number to route an incoming ISDN or Glowpoint videocall, upon receiving a busy signal or no answer, to a differentvideoconferencing system. This feature affords customers with multiple videounits and conference rooms the ability to reroute video calls to othersystems without needing to notify the incoming caller. Video forwarding alsofacilitates conference room scheduling issues and accommodates last minuteroom changes.
Similar to video forwarding, audio forwarding enables Glowpoint subscribersto assign a traditional telephone or cell phone number to each video unit onthe Glowpoint network. Incoming calls that encounter a busy signal or noanswer will automatically be forwarded to the subscriber's designatedtelephone number. The incoming caller can either leave a voicemail or talkdirectly to the Glowpoint subscriber in audio format.
Both services are currently operational and available to both new andexisting Glowpoint customers for a small fee.
