Feb, 2002 : C&W Taps iSKY to Target 'Orphaned' Businesses

📅 February 14, 2002 - iSKY Inc. (isky.com), a provider of outsourced customer careservices, today announced it has been contracted by Cable & Wireless to identify U.S. companies who are about to lose or who havealready lost their Internet service because their current network serviceproviders are experiencing operational or financial difficulties.

Under the program, iSKY will call U.S. companies to track concerns aboutpotential losses of Internet service as well as overall levels ofsatisfaction with their current ISP. In addition, iSKY will identifyparticular Internet and other communications services needs these companiesmay have which Cable & Wireless can provide.
"Many businesses across the United States face significant disruptions totheir operations because their network providers have either gone out ofbusiness or are on the verge of going out of business," said Peter Green,president of business markets at C&W. "iSKY's expertise in utilizingadvanced contact management technologies to quickly gather and integratedata into our own automated systems will enable us to identify thosebusinesses that can benefit from a stable provider such as Cable & Wirelessfor their IP connectivity and hosting needs."

Denver-based Qwest, a major phone company in 14 states, also reduced its capital spending budget and said it would consider other long-term refinancing options. 📅 Feb 15, 2002 - WorldCom Suspends Three in Commission Scandal - WorldCom employees at three offices allegedly booked up to $4 million in fake commissions by taking credit for sales at different offices, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The voice and data provider suspended three employees and froze at least 12 workers' commissions as part of its investigation, the WSJ reported. WorldCom says it expects no impact on earnings because of the incident.
