The 4th annual ISPA awards were attended by over 500 leading figures fromthe UK Internet industry and addressed by Douglas Alexander MP, minister ofState for E-commerce and Competitiveness. The ISPAs are awarded to peopleand organisations in the industry by their peers and reflect the broadnature of the service provider sector. Formed in 1995 as the tradeassociation to represent ISPs in the UK, the Internet Service ProvidersAssociation promotes self-regulation, competition and the development of theInternet industry. The ISPA was also instrumental in the formation ofEuroISPA, a European federation of Internet Service Provider Associationswhich seeks to influence EU Internet policies.
