📅 - IBM today announced the company's Managed Security Services will implement Symantec Corp.'s Intruder Alert for host-based intrusion detection.
Symantec's new global service (enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/) will secure IBM customer's e-business infrastructure, identifying unauthorized access 24/7. Should Intruder Alert detect a problem, IBM's management services will take instantaneously action, preventing damage.

IBM will use Symantec Intruder Alert 3.6's capabilities in conjunction with its own Tivoli Risk Manager to extend its secure infrastructure. This will allow IBM to manage security the system, using a number of devices and technologies, including anti-virus, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems. The two types of software will complement each other providing alerts, immediate attack response and proactive diagnosis and assessment of security across customers' environments.
Symantec Intruder Alert 3.6 is a host-based, real-time intrusion monitoring system that detects unauthorized activity and security breaches and responds by sounding an alarm or taking proceeding with pre-authorized security policies in order to prevent information loss or theft. Administrators handle alerts and archive audit logs for incident analysis, from a central console.
"Today's Internet security threats are becoming increasingly more complex and require a multi-tiered security plan," said Todd Gordon, general manager and vice president of IBM Global Services Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery division.
