Apr, 2002 : Solvay Group Employs Complete Interliant Solution

(interliant.com), a leading provider of managed infrastructure services, announced on Tuesday that Solvay Information Technologies Inc., the IT arm of Houston-based chemical giant Solvay America Inc. (solvay.com), recently expanded its services agreement with Interliant to include Lotus Notes Hosting.
An Interliant customer since 1999, Solvay Technologies currently uses services from each of Interliant's INIT Hosting, INIT Messaging and INIT Security solution groups. And according to Interliant, the company also recently completed an agreement for professional services application development with Solvay Advanced Polymers LLC, another Solvay America company.
"Our basic IT strategy is to outsource non-critical IT functions and keep critical information in-house," says Brian Scott, Web services manager, Solvay Information Technologies. "It's not always easy to justify in the short-term, but in the long term it makes operational and financial sense -- Interliant can do it cheaper than we can and we have less capital outlay.
On top of cost and flexibility, says Solvay Technology, part of the reason for selecting Interliant as a provider was the access to consulting and information, through Interliant, that the company didn?t have in-house.
Solvay Information Technolgies became a managed hosting customer of Interliant's in November of 1999 with four servers. The company, says Interliant, added 14 servers, managed redundant firewalls and additional services in 2001. The new agreement is the result of Solvay America's acquisition of a company using a Lotus Domino infrastructure. Interliant will integrate, manage and host Lotus Domino legacy applications from that acquisition.
"Interliant's end-to-end managed infrastructure solutions meet Solvay's current and developing needs with reliable IT services that free them to focus on its mission-critical activities," says Dave Link, SVP national sales for Interliant.
