Intel Online Services To Provide Web Hosting Services For eBay

📅 April 3, 2002 - Intel Online Services, Inc. (intelonlineservices.com), the Internet services arm of chip giant Intel, said yesterday it had been selected by eBay to host a portion of the auction site's operations.

Specific terms of the agreement between the two companies were not disclosed.
Intel Online Services was added to eBay's family of providers as part of the company's continuing Web hosting diversification strategy. eBay is forging hosting agreements with a number of providers in order to ensure maximum redundancy and uptime. "The selection of Intel Online Services advances our diversification strategy and ensures continued site availability to eBay's global trading community," said Marty Abbott, Vice President of Operations and Information Technology for eBay Technologies.
"Intel Online Services can support eBay's critical e-business systems because of the reliability and security we deliver," said Dalibor Vrsalovic, President of Intel Online Services. "Our Internet services and innovative automation technology give customers the ability to start with a simple hosting solution and then migrate as necessary to a fully managed application hosting environment."
