IBM, Telefonica Data Team To Offer Business Continuity Solutions
📅 - Telefonica Data USA (telefonica-data.com), a subsidiary of European telecommunications firm Telefonica, and tech giant IBM today announced an agreement to deliver business continuity services in the United States.
Under the agreement, IBM's on-demand technology products (ibm.com/e-business/ondemand) will be deployed in Telefonica Data's Miami data center in order to provide on-demand business continuity services. IBM said its Global Services unit would implement the data technology necessary to support the joint offering, which is designed to safeguard mission-critical data and systems in order to protect Telefonica customers against loss from natural or manmade disasters.

"With data centers on three continents and a robust global network, we can leverage our combined capabilities to offer world-class business continuity services on-demand, backed by IBM technology and services."
IBM eServer systems, Shark Storage and software including DB2, Tivoli andWebSphere will be installed in the Telefonica's Miami data center to support thenew offerings. Telefonica's global network features 650 points of presence and more than 100 peering agreements with major global carriers. Telefonica Data carries 80% of the world's Spanish language Internet traffic.
