📅 May 31, 2007 - Web publishing tools provider Freewebs (freewebs.com) announced on Thursday it is adding a Widget Bank to its catalog of easy-to-use Web site building tools. The Freewebs Widget Bank provides members with unlimited access to thousands of widgets -- content that can be embedded directly onto a Web site and be easily inserted into Freewebs sites without having to copy, cut or paste code.

Widget Bank will regularly update its collection and include games, clocks, RSS feed readers, maps and video players. Freewebs will include its own widgets, along with those from the Web's leading widget makers. By partnering with top providers like YouTube, Widgetbox, RockYou, Miniclip and Gizmoz, Freewebs is seeking to provide an interactive and feature-rich collection of widgets, says the company.

"Freewebs has been pioneering web widgets since 2005, and our new Widget Bank helps make widgets easy to publish for everyone," says Shervin Pishevar, Freewebs's president. "Our new Widget Bank allows users to point- and-click to get the content they want without ever seeing a single line of HTML code. The Freewebs Widget Bank will initially offer Gizmoz, Miniclip, Craigslist, YouTube, Google, Amazon.com, Yahoo, Reverbnation and WidgetBox. Freewebs will continue to seek out and partner with the best widgets and widget makers to provide its members with the ultimate site-building tools.
