Aug, 2002 : WebVision Enters Managed Hosting Business

📅 - WebVision Corporation (webvision.com) recently announced that it has entered the managed hosting business, using the former Fourthstage Inc. data center it acquired in Austin, Texas to offer services on the Microsoft.NET platform.

The company describes itself as part of a stronger new breed of companies to emerge following the dot-com meltdown, with WebVision focusing on targeting medium-sized business customers. WebVision says it feels such a strategy is well placed to capitalize on much of the growth in managed hosting services.
WebVision recently acquired some of the assets of Fourthstage Technologies after that company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February. Fourthstage itself had previously acquired five data centers from Aperian.
Among the assets acquired by WebVision is the 35,000 square-foot Austin data center. WebVision says it has 70 customers on the center, including some former Fourthstage customers.
WebVision says that by staying focused on a specific market segment, the company can avoid many of the difficulties recently faced by broader, overbuilt service providers.
