📅 - Internet exchange service provider Equinix Inc. (Equinix.com) announced on Monday that Taiwan-based integrated telecommunication provider Chunghwa Telecom will install a network point of presence in Equinix's Los Angeles Internet Business Exchange (IBX) center.
?With the largest concentration of network participants in the region, Equinix's Los Angeles IBX center serves as an important hub for Internet infrastructure in the LA area,? says Jay Adelson, founder and CTO of Equinix. ?Direct interconnection with multiple leading network providers over the Equinix Gigabit Ethernet central switching fabric enables Chunghwa to more efficiently interconnect with other networks and content companies for peering and transit connections to better serve its more than 20 million subscribers.? Through the agreement, says Equinix, Chunghwa will be able to connect its network directly to a variety of ISPs, carriers and other service providers participating in Equinix's Los Angeles Internet hub through the Equinix GigE Exchange service. The GigE Exchange service provides a means of interconnection with the companies operating within the IBX centers for peering and transit, for less than the cost of traditional transit arrangements.
