Dec, 2002 : Level 3 Extends United Online Colocation

level3.com logo📅 - Communications service provider Level 3 Communications Inc. (Level3.com) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a one-year agreement to provide collocation services in Los Angeles to value-priced Internet access provider United Online, Inc.

According to Level 3, United Online had more than 4.8 million active users, including 1.85 million paying subscribers on its NetZero and Juno services as of September 30.
United Online is leasing space in Level 3's Los Angeles facility to help house its core ISP applications. One of Level 3's top managed modem customers, United Online became the first major national ISP to support V.92 dial-up numbers to its user base. The V.92 standard, says Level 3, allows users to receive calls on the same phone line their modem is connected to without losing the Internet connection.
"This agreement strengthens our relationship with United Online, one of the leading providers of Internet access in the United States," says Kevin Dundon, senior vice president of Global Infrastructure Services for Level 3. "We believe our data centers are among the best connected and most secure facilities in the industry. Colocating with Level 3 enables customers to get direct access to Level 3's services, and to connect with additional carriers, content providers and other companies that provide communications services."
