Jan, 2003 : Goldman Sachs Predicts Conservative IT Spending
📅 - U.S. enterprises will be conservative towards IT purchases, according to a new survey published by investment firm Goldman Sachs (goldmansachs.com).
The survey indicates that average spending on computer hardware and software by U.S. businesses will decline by one per cent this year compared with last year. Goldman Sachs conducted the survey in December, as most companies completed their 2003 budgets. The number of survey respondents that expect to put off higher IT spending until 2004 or later jumped from 26 per cent to 43 per cent. The outlook for long-term growth in spending declined to 5 per cent from 6 per cent to 7 per cent previously. "Our latest results indicate a renewed determination among top management to control expenditures," the Goldman Sachs report stated.
